You will need to go early in September if your going to Alaska as that is the end of the cruise season there. If you want to go to the Caribbean, then you have to worry about hurricanes that time of Year, so I would choose Alaska. This summer, I will be going on my second time to Alaska on a cruise. My first was a cruise/tour and I loved it so much, I just had to go again, but on a different route. I highly recommend Princess cruises for your Alaska adventure. They are rated very, very high on Alaskan Cruises. I have also been to the eastern and western Caribbean, both with Princess, but not during hurricane season. It was also wonderful, especially if you love beaches, and water sports.

Go to Antigua. Its a great place for couples, or families. There are lots of hotels from the very posh celebrity hotels to the affordable mid-income ones. Visit the sites below for more information. And remember the beach is just the beginning.... there's much more too do.

I'm pretty sure it's 21 unless you are traveling with a parent! One adult Must stay in the same room as the minor! Check out carnival.com for their policies--they are known for being a singles cruise and a party cruise--not as family oriented as some of the others! You must have a major credit card for room/ship charges or they will required a $300.00 or more cash deposit! You must be an adult to get into the casino! And alot of the shore excursions have age requirements! Windjammer.com may take mimors with parental consent but these are small cabin cruiser type boats--not ships! Beware of all of the "kids go missing" stories on some of the islands/or ports---Curaco is one of them--they love blondes! Especially Americans! Daytona would be safer! Stay away from Mexico without a parent! have fun but be SAFE!

I dont think 18 is a problem...but being 17 would be as there would be no one to sign off on a medical situation..PLUS.. if u leave the country I think that would create more of an issue...wait another year!

I stayed in the Mayan Riviera last year and loved it. I'm assuming that you are looking for a family friendly resort, and you'll find just that here, as opposed to nearby Cancun.

The Mayan Riviera is a great location for families as it is a little more relaxed than Cancun and most of the hotels are better spread out, etc. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but its less typical here to see the foolish/over the top partying that Cancun is accustomed to.

I think there is enough to keep you occupied. There is lots nearby in Playa del Carmen and surrounding areas and if you feel the urge to travel to Cancun or other areas they aren't that far away. Additionally, most resorts have activities/day centers for the children.

For what its worth, we loved our resort and I wrote a review on it at our new travel website. The address is and the link to my review is in the sources.

Enjoy your trip.

We have taken many family vacations there. Our favorite family destination was an all-inclusive resort in Dominican Republic, which is the top tourism draw in the Caribbean. There are so many things to do at a good all-inclusive that you can easily stay there for a week.

If you prefer a more active vacation and get out and about, then a good list includes Bahamas, Cancun and Jamaica.

But our preferred family vacation in the Caribbean is a cruise. You definitely get the best value for your money, the least expensive overall vacation and a chance to see several islands in one trip.

I live in Antigua and love it... you may want to look at coming here. The Antigua and Barbuda International Music Festival is coming up June 13th and 14th... and you can even stop by the marina and buy me a drink... he,he,he....

The best part of being in Antigua is, most AmeriKans have never heard of it... so they don't tend to come here... It's the best kept secret on the International scene and the list of celebrities on this island at any given time is very long... which is why they come here.
